Formed in 2002, Waterside Places specialises in regenerating waterside areas in cities with intelligent design and a forward-thinking approach to urban renaissance. Waterside Places is jointly owned by the Canal & River Trust - a charity set-up to care for England and Wales’ waterways, and award-winning developer, Muse Developments.

Each of our developments presents an original environment, where we facilitate the growth of a thriving waterside community and we carefully plan the appropriate mix of residential and commercial development in response to the location. Our award-winning buildings are sympathetically designed to reference the history of each area, using our experience in constructing new buildings and refurbishing existing buildings that will enhance the surrounding waterways.

50% of our profits are invested back into Britain’s waterways to ensure that the canals and rivers are maintained and conserved for future generations. For each of our projects, we plan, build and manage every step of the process to ensure that environmental and green issues are at the heart of each place throughout its development.

Canal and River Trust


The Canal & River Trust is the guardian of 2,000 miles of historic waterways across England and Wales, caring for the nation’s third largest collection of listed structures, as well as museums, archives, and hundreds of important wildlife sites.

It believes that living waterways transform places and enrich lives and makes sure there is always a place on your doorstep where you can escape the pressures of everyday life, stretch your legs and simply feel closer to nature.
